Mountains
Project type
Mountain vessels
Date
August 2025
Location
Narawntapu National Park, Tasmania
This range is thrown from a smooth white clay, each form carefully shaped to honour simplicity and function while leaving space for the surface to tell its story.
The decoration draws inspiration from Narawntapu National Park on the northern coast of Tasmania — a place of shifting horizons, open skies, and the meeting of land and sea. These vessels carry the horizon in their glaze; layers drift and blur like distant ranges, shifting from storm-grey ridges to deep blue waters, softening into pale sandy shores.
Every piece is unique, holding within it the quiet movement of coastline and mountain, where colour and form flow together like weather across a landscape. The glazes are layered with intention, creating depth and variation that echo the rhythm of tides, the sweep of wind, and the slow erosion of stone.
Coated inside and out with my custom matte glaze combinations, the surfaces are carefully built to invoke coastal tones and natural colour, creating gentle movement and unexpected features. No two vessels are alike; each becomes a small landscape of its own — a reminder of place, of stillness, and of the beauty found in the meeting of earth and sea. These works sit gracefully in any home, inviting a moment of pause and connection with the natural world.
